Rally raises £30,000

The Hearts Fans Rally, which was held at Tynecastle yesterday, has raised in the region of a remarkable £30,000.

Current first team stars and management team were joined by favourites from the past as around 400 supporters packed the Gorgie Suite for a day of fund-raising.

Former first team aces included Dave McPherson, Paul Hartley, Colin Cameron, Gordon Marshall and Allan Preston.

Some rare memorabilia was up for auction, while signed strips from previous seasons also proved popular.

Guest speakers included Donald Findlay and Tam Cowan, while there was a disco to finish the event off.

Proceedings were hosted by Scotland's premier stadium announcer Scott Wilson.

A Hearts spokesperson said: "To pull this together in such a short space of time was a terrific effort from all concerned. The amount raised was remarkable and will go directly to help with the running of the club.

"We'd like to thank everyone who gave of their time so generously to ensure the event was a big success."
