I'M NOT AFRAID TO TELL YOU GORDON IS MY PUBLIC ENEMY NO.1

Richie Foran

CRAIG GORDON haunted my sleep on Sunday night.

After his string of world-class saves prevented us from beating Hearts I've now got my very own bogey man.

The big man has been my worst nightmare since I arrived in Scotland and I think maybe it's me who's a jinx.

Our performance against the Jambos on Sunday was our best of the season and we would have won had it not been for Gordon performing like a demon. Some of the saves he made were incredible - but that's why he's Scotland's No. 1.

As he pulled off a string of stops which had all the Motherwell lads staring at each other in disbelief I knew it was all going to end in tears - like the re-run of a horror movie I've had to endure many times since coming up against him.

As I tried to get some kip that night I couldn't get him out of my head. I'd rather have had Michael Myres or Freddy Kruger on my mind.

All the headlines after the game were about how good he was. That tells its own story ab out how the game went.

Even at training yesterday the boys were in a great mood and we were all working with a smile or on our faces. We lost the match but we were buoyed by the display and had that not been the case there would have been a depression hanging around us. But we need points more than performances and nobody needs to remind us of that.

We're at the foot of the table and it's vital we start to string a few wins together. It's amazing how things can turn in football when a few points are put on the board. The last thing we need is to allow ourselves to become detached at the bottom.

It's not a case of maybe things turning for the better but a case of when.

Someone is going to find out just how good a side we are and it will be sooner rather than later when it clicks into place for us.

We don't believe it will happen - we know it will.

This weekend we're at Dundee United. Tannadice is a place where we have a good record so we'll need to make sure that continues.

The manager changed the system for the Hearts game. It meant I was pushed into a main striking role and it's a position I relish.

Since I joined the club I've been used either wide right or left so I hope I'm allowed to stay up front and show what I can do.

The gaffer has forgotten more about the game than I know so whatever he opts to do will be fine by me but he knows my preference for a more striking role.

A few weeks ago I enrolled in a cooking class and some of the dishes I've been preparing have been delicious.

So much so that the lads have been on the phone constantly looking for invites to dinner to sample the Foran fare.

But they're not on. All these lads and not one girl giving me a phone to come over for a bite. Hopefully that will change but there's one guy who won't be getting an invite. He can be seen jumping around my dreams in a maroon jersey.
