HEARTS SAY CAM AND JOIN USColin Duncan HEARTS are lining up a double swoop for Cameroon strikers Rodolph Douala and Albert Meyong. The Tynecastle club are keen to bolster their squad ahead of next season's Champions League qualifiers and have opened talks with the two internationals. Douala is currently at Sporting Lisb on but has made it clear he wants to leave in the summer. The £2million-rated winger, also being chased by Paris St Germain, is unhappy after not getting his place in the team back following African Nations Cup. Meyong was top scorer in the Portuguese League with Belenenses last season but his 16 goals weren't enough to save them from relegation. Meyong has a year left on his contract but Belenenses are ready to cash in on a player they snapped up on a Bosman who is valued at £1.3m. Auxerre and Rennes share Hearts' interest. Meyong said: "Everything is in the hands of my agent and the president of Belenenses." Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov is keen to continue his association with the Portuguese market after successfully recruiting Bruno Aguiar, Takis Fyssas, Edgaras Jankauskas and Jose Goncalves from there over the past 12 months. Meanwhile, Romanov last night issued a statement in response to claims made by Andy Webster's agent Charles Duddy. He said: "Webster's agent has reacted to my comment about the parasites who live at the expense of football and the players, and whose heads are empty apart from the thought of money, in such a way as if it was addressed to him. "If he considers that to be his case then his reaction is natural." Taken from the Daily Record |
