ADAM IN LILLE DEAL

By Colin Duncan

FORMER Hearts striker Stephen Adam has landed a coaching role with French Champions League outfit Lille.

Adam, who won the Scottish Cup with the Tynecastle side in 1998, returned to Scotland last season and was working alongside Jim Jefferies at Kilmarnock.

However, the 37-year-old is heading back to France to take up a post with his hometown club.

Adam has signed a two-year deal to coach Lille's strikers and to look after the club's Under-18 team.

He said: "Lille are a massive club who play Champions League football regularly and this was the kind of job I was waiting for. I was born in Lille and played for the club since I was a kid.

"They have a big future and I'm delighted I will be a part of that.

"But I'm grateful to Kilmarnock for giving me a chance last season.

"However, they just didn't have the financial budget to offer me a full-time post.

"It's my ambition to come back to Scotland and coach and hopefully I will be able to achieve that one day."
