Hearts reject Webster bidDARREN JOHNSTONE HEARTS chairman George Foulkes has reiterated that the Tynecastle outfit are no longer a selling club in the wake of reports that Rangers had a £750,000 bid for defender Andy Webster rejected last week. Both sides of the Old Firm are reputedly interested in signing the Scotland international, however Foulkes insists that the player is not for sale. "We are not in the business of selling players anymore, we are in the business of buying players," said Foulkes, who confirmed last week that George Burley had replaced former manager John Robertson. "George Burley and I have both made that clear. "Andy Webster is not for sale and the same goes for Paul Hartley [previously a Celtic target]. We see these kind of players as essential for the kind of success we are planning." Foulkes refused to be drawn on speculation Rangers made an official bid for Webster but added: "We have made it clear to anyone who makes enquires that our players are not for sale." Burley confirmed at the weekend that he intends to bring chief scout Simon Hunt and goalkeeping coach Malcolm Webster to Hearts from former club Derby. Taken from the Scotsman |
