Jamie Macdonald thinks Hearts were unlucky not to take a point at McDiarmid Park and points to the confusion surrounding the home side's goal as being the difference.

Stevie May put St Johnstone ahead in the first half but only after the referee conferred with his assistant about whether or not the Saints player in the box was offside.

Speaking exclusively to Hearts News, Jamie said: "As the ball came in I've checked because the boy, he's not run across me, but he's went towards the ball.

"I've maybe not followed the line of the ball initially and kind of stopped in case he hits it, which he doesn't and the ball goes in. For me it's offside because the boy is interfering with play.

"He's interfering with my decision. I don't know if I would've saved it if I'd have kept going as it was a good finish in the far away corner.

"It's one of those things. The linesman has flagged straightaway but the boys said the referee overruled him."
