No fear

Billy Brown believes his young stars' "lack of fear" can see Hearts to safety this season.

The assistant manager, who returned to Tynecastle at the start of the month, knows the Jambos have a huge task ahead of them, but thinks age won't be a hindrance.

Speaking to Hearts News, Billy said: "There's no doubt about it, 15 points is a hefty reduction. You've got to win five games whilst somebody is losing five games.

"But it's not impossible, it's not insurmountable. We've got to get off to a half decent start to give ourselves a chance. We've young legs, enthusiasm, lack of fear and that can make up for a lot of things.

"I think we can surprise a lot of people. It's not going to be easy, no way is it going to be easy, but I think everybody here is up for the challenge."

Billy's return marks a seven year love affair with Hearts. When asked about how he's settled back in to life at the club, Billy said: "It's great and I've got to say it's very easy. I've worked with Gary for a long, long time in different capacities and it's been a pleasure. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and the boys have responded really well.

"Doing pre-season training on your own, because Darren Murray has to take the young lads, it's very difficult. You do need a hand with certain things and I wasn't doing anything so I offered my services.

"I knew the club couldn't take anybody on because of the situation, but that didn't matter. It's just good to be here, helping Gary and helping the club through this period."
