Lockie demands improvement

Gary Locke has admitted that it's been a difficult 48 hours at Hearts, but he's positive that he can help steer the club in the right direction.

With the departure of John McGlynn, the senior coaching staff of Lockie, Edgaras Jankauskas and Darren Murray will take charge of first team affairs for the visit of Motherwell tomorrow. While the first team coach was saddened to see his gaffer leave, he insists that it's now up to them to get the team out of the rut they currently find themselves in.

Speaking to the media this morning at Riccarton, Gary said: "It's been a difficult couple of days. I'm deeply disappointed to see the manger leave his post, we all are. But we've got a game on Saturday that myself, Darren and Edgaras have been put in charge of and we've got to try and do our best and get the club back on track.

"We've got to pick ourselves up. We're in a bad position in the SPL, a position that everybody here feels we shouldn't be in but we are. We've got to try and rally round and be as positive as we can be.

"We're up against a very good Motherwell team on Saturday but it's important that we try and get three points. It's time we step up to the plate and do better than we have been doing. We just look to Saturday now and try and get three points. Everybody knows that if you can get a victory then it'll give the whole club a lift.

"We're in the position we're in because we've not been doing well enough. All the players know that. We've got five league games until the split and a cup final to look forward to so we're trying to remain as positive as we can and hopefully try and get a couple of good results over the next four days."
