McGLYNN said his side were playing with fresh legs and no fear and had shown character after falling behind in Dingwall.

JOHN McGlynn believes his Jambo young guns will only get better as they adapt to the SPL fray.

The Gorgie club’s savage cuts have placed the likes of Fraser Mullen, Billy King and Callum Tapping centre stage – and the kids were all right in Dingwall.

A late Iain Vigurs goal for Ross County ensured Hearts took only a point but boss McGlynn was far from disconsolate.

He said: “It was a cruel result for us. County kept going right to the end and that’s what you should do but I felt we merited three points. It was another really good performance from the boys and there was some great football.

“I thought County scored the first goal against the run of play and that we’d had chances before that.

“But we showed character to come back and after Michael Ngoo equalised with a great individual effort we were on top.

“Then a great ball from Fraser Mullen allowed Jamie Walker to get across the defender for the header. We were delighted to be 2-1 in front and their keeper had a great save from Ryan Stevenson to prevent it going to 3-1.

“We had opportunities to kill them off but unfortunately couldn’t defend right to the very end. However, I’m still very buoyant about the performance.

“The young lads we’ve played have had to show character and they’ve done that. They will gain from every game they play and, hopefully, get better and better.

“They have fresh legs and no fear - and an appetite to play football.

“They are happy to take the ball on and we’re delighted with them.”
