Dunfermline 0 Hearts 2 Jul 22 2012 By David Rinaldi RAGING Jim Jefferies has demanded the SFA allow Dunfermline an extra month to buy players after SPL dithering left his pre-season plans in chaos. Pars had hoped to be reinstated to the top flight in the wake of Rangers’ demise but were only told on Monday they’ll be playing in the First Division this season. The uncertainty wreaked havoc on Jefferies’ signing plans and he now wants the transfer window extended to give him time to strengthen his squad. The Fifers lost to Hearts yesterday with Andy Webster and a John Sutton penalty doing the damage. Jefferies was content with his side’s showing but keen to vent his fury on the game’s top brass. He raged: “We are playing catch-up big time as we’ve had to put everything on hold. “We’ve lost players who were hanging on and on because of the uncertainty and couldn’t wait any longer. “It’s a shambles and the SFA should give us another month as we were stopped from signing players because of everything that was going on. My preparations have been hampered a lot.” Hearts were first to threaten as Sutton saw an early header palmed behind by trialist keeper Graeme Smith. At the other end Jamie MacDonald raced from the Jambos goal to deny Andy Barrowman who was clean through. The opener arrived 12 minutes from the break when Ryan McGowan knocked down a David Templeton corner for Webster to volley home. Jefferies rang the changes on the hour with six coming on, including former Jambo Kevin Kyle. But Sutton doubled his side’s lead in 80 minutes from the spot after Templeton was brought down by Stephen Jordan. Hearts gaffer John McGlynn said: “We are short up front so signing a striker is a priority.” Taken from the Daily Record |
