Hearts offer trial to Kaunas pair
HEARTS could be set to bolster their squad with the arrival of two trialists from FBK Kaunas. The Jambos boss will run the rule over the Lithuanian duo as they spend the week training at the Football Academy at Riccarton. Cinikas is a 22-year-old forward and former under-21 international, while Zubavicius, 24, is a midfielder. Both players may be familiar to Rangers fans after playing a part in Kaunas' shock win over Walter Smith's men in a Champions League qualifier at the start of the season. Cinikas was a substitute in the goalless draw at Ibrox and started the second leg of the qualifier which saw former Hearts player Linas Pilibaitas claim a late winner to secure an historic result for the club. Zubavicius was an unused substitute in the first leg but came off the bench in Lithuania as Kaunas inflicted one of Rangers' worst ever European results. Meanwhile, Michael Stewart should be back training this week after taking a knock to his shin in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. "He was walking okay yesterday so there shouldn't be any problem," Laszlo told Hearts News. Taken from the Scotsman |
