Eggert Jonsson signs up until 2012By BARRY ANDERSON HEARTS today concluded a momentous piece of business by agreeing a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Icelandic midfielder Eggert Jonsson. The 19-year-old is now tied to Tynecastle until 2012 following negotiations this week between his agent, Olafur Gardarsson, and representatives of Ukio Bankas Investment Group, which finances Hearts. Jonsson's previous contract was not due to expire until 2010 but he triggered an appearance-related clause earlier this season, entitling him to a renewal. The new deal will delight Tynecastle supporters who have marvelled at Jonsson's impressive performances in the first team this season. The club have extended the stay of one of their most promising academy products, and the player admitted it was always his intention to remain in Edinburgh. "I am really pleased to get the contract sorted out. I was always going to stay at Hearts, and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead as you always want to improve," he said.
