Young Hearts run free to see off Hibs in derby fightbackHEARTS Under-19s triumphed in the face of adversity at the weekend when they came from a goal behind to beat city rivals Hibs 2-1 having been reduced to ten men. The young Jambos were facing a one-goal deficit when they went in at half-time at Riccarton, but a rousing performance in the second half saw them edge their counterparts from Easter Road despite being a man down following Taylor's second booking. Gary Glen emerged as the hero for Hearts with two goals to cancel the Hibs' opener. His first saw an expert turn and shot from distance secure parity for his side before a solo run past three Hibernian defenders and a calm finish completed the victory. Left winger Rocco Visconte, who arrived recently from Australia, turned in an impressive display for the home team and left youth coach Stevie Frail delighted with his contribution. The victory was the first of the season for Hearts Under-19s, and owed much to the maturity and graft of Eddie Mearns, Mark Forker and Steven Slater in the home midfield. Hearts Under-19s' next match is against Kilmarnock at Riccarton this Saturday. Taken from the Scotsman |
