WEBSTER NEARING A DEBUT

ANDY WEBSTER could finally make his Wigan debut in today's league clash with Manchester City at the JJB Stadium.

The former Hearts player is close to full fitness after coming through a reserve game against Manchester United this week.

Webster's Scotland international colleague Lee McCulloch also featured and could return from injury against Stuart Pearce's side.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell said: "I haven't completely made up my mind about the team and Thursday's run-out gave some much needed match fitness to some of the squad.

"Competition is starting to hot up within the team now, which is exactly as I want it."

Jewell added: "Webby has had a very difficult summer.

"He lost out on a pre-season and then, as is often the case when someone's playing catch up, picked up a couple of niggling injuries. But he's close now."
