ROMANOV'S TWO MOO SIGNINGS

HEARTS owner Vladimir Romanov has unveiled some unlikely new signings - a pair of ornamental cows.

The Jambos boss paid £25,000 for the brightly coloured fibreglass beasts during a charity auction.

Up for grabs were stars of CowParade, a collection of bovine public art with coats designed by artists from across Scotland. The bash was held in the Prestonfield House Hotel, near Edinburgh, where Romanov stumped up £15,000 for Salty the Saltire Cow.

Romanov plans to hand it to politicians at Holyrood.

He said: "The parliament is very busy and maybe this will help them forget about their daily problems."

He also forked out £10,000 for Coween of Hearts, which could now be on its way to Tynecastle.

The auction of 60 cows raised £252,000 for charities including One City Trust and VETAID.

Other high-profile bidders included author Ian Rankin, who also bought two cows.

Around 150 cows have been displayed in streets and parks across the capital since May.
