Robins land McAllisterBy Simon Fudge Jamie McAllister has become Bristol City's sixth summer signing following his move from Hearts on Wednesday. The former Queen of the South, Aberdeen and Livingston player ends a two-season spell with The Jambos after being granted his release from the Scottish Premier League club. The 28-year-old has made the move south of the border to join the League One side after catching the eye of Robins boss Gary Johnson, with Hearts to receive a sell-on fee should he be sold by City in the future. The left-sided defender/midfielder leaves Tynecastle after making 65 appearances for the Edinburgh club, having been capped by Scotland in May 2004. His experience in Scottish football has seen him play in both the Scottish FA Cup and CIS Insurance Cup finals, while appearing in the Uefa Cup with Hearts. Meanwhile, Johnson's search for new goalkeeper has prompted him to hand a trial to for former Manchester City and Swansea City goalkeeper Brian Murphy. Murphy is looking for a new club after turning down a new deal with The Swans, having recently been on trial at Gillingham. City are keen at add a custodian to their ranks, with Chris Weale still out with a knee ligament injury. "There has been interest from other clubs, but I'm here and it would be a good opportunity to challenge for a first-team place, should I earn a contract," Murphy told City's official website. http://home.skysports.com |
