Hearts reject United's bid for WallaceANGUS WRIGHT HEARTS have rejected a bid from Dundee United to take left-back Lee Wallace on a season-long loan. Craig Brewster, the United manager, wanted the 18-year-old, but Hearts have plans for him, despite the player making just four starts last season. "They have said no because think they will need him for the new season," Brewster said. "There are not too many left-sided players going about, but I do have other options to explore." Meanwhile, Hearts assistant coach John McGlynn believes the arrival of "three quality players" can help cover the expected loss of Rudi Skacel and Andy Webster. McGlynn said: "You can't hide from the fact that they were two influential players. Rudi scored a lot of goals last year and Andy's an international centre-back. "[But] we are a lot better off than we were last year because we have more or less a settled team, but we do need to add some really top quality players. If we have ambitions to win the title and qualify for the Champions League group stages, then I think we need to add three real quality players." Taken from the Scotsman |
