More Signing Rumours

Today our alleged targets are released Southampton striker Marian Pahars and surely somewhat ludicrously, Celtic's Stan Varga!

The Pahars link would seem like the more plausible of the two. He's a Latvian international who could well have links to the likes of Romanov or Ivanauskas. He was a fine player about five years ago when he first went to Southampton, but there is undoubtedly a question mark over his fitness, as he's been dogged by injury for pretty much the whole time he's been in England. Still, he'll still not be too old and if he can re-produce his old form he'd be a decent signing.

Varga? Well I think this has to be a bit of a joke really. It's been rumoured that he's been interesting both Edinburgh clubs but to be honest, it's more than likely that his agent is touting him all over the place and leaking these 'stories' to the press. I don't think he's a bad player but he's certainly not as good as anything Hearts have got, even without the services of Webster. He might sign for Hibs though.....!
