Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley has been named Scottish Premier League player of the seasonand says that he wants to finish his career at Tynecastle."This is another special award for myself in an incredible season for the club," he told Hearts' website. "I have got another two years left on my contract, but I would love to see my career finishing at Tynecastle. "I love the place and love playing at Tynecastle and training with the players. I love the people." Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon won the football writers' player of the year award, while the players' player award went to Celtic's Shaun Maloney. Now the Bank of Scotland's panel of journalists have gone for Hartley, who helped Hearts lift the Scottish Cup on Saturday. "It has been an incredible season, winning so many awards," said the 29-year-old Scotland international, for whom Celtic have previously tabled bids that have been rejected by Hearts. "Saturday was fantastic and this award shows you - not just as a player but as a team - how the season has gone. "We had a fantastic start to the season, when we were flying top of the league, but we were really consistent the whole season. "The key word is consistent, but I think the one other thing is desire - the desire to be successful and to do something in the game and win something." Taken from the BBC |
