CUP HERO GETS RUDI TO QUIT IN SUMMERRudi Skacel By Gary Ralston HEARTS star Rudi Skacel will quit Tynecastle still bitter he missed out on a glory double. The Czech midfielder grabbed the goal that helped Hearts win the Scottish Cup and followed it up with an expertly-taken spot-kick. But last night Skacel took a thinly-veiled dig at owner Vladimir Romanov for interference he reckons cost the Jambos an even greater shot at glory. Skacel celebrated his first-half opener by taking off his shirt to reveal a message which read: "I will never forget. Thanks Jambos". And after the game he all but confirmed the worst kept secret at the club - he'll be leaving in the summer. Skacel is upset at the managerial changes enforced throughout the season, particularly the departure of his mentor George Burley. He could be set to link up with Burley again at Southampton, though several Premiership clubs including Fulham are also monitoring his situation. Skacel said: "This season has been one of so many emotions. "Many problems were created for this team but it's a fantastic dressing room and we stayed together and made some good results. "However, I'm still sad because I think this team had a big chance to take the title after our amazing start. "I wore the T-shirt because I wanted to say thanks to them for their support. This is maybe, probably, my last game for the club." Taken from the Daily Record |
