VLAD: LET'S HAVE A HAULCUP FINAL SPECIAL: TODAY'S THE DAY FOLKS Gary Ralston HEARTS owner Vladimir Romanov last night hailed Gretna before demanding the Scottish Cup be delivered to Tynecastle. Romanov jetted in to Scotland yesterday ahead of the Hampden showpiece seeking his first silverware as Jambos supremo. He has praised Gretna owner Brooks Mileson for delivering success to his Second Division champions and took a sly dig at the Old Firm for failing to make the Final. But Romanov has urged his players to return to the capital with the trophy he craves - eight years after they last won it. He said: "I was surprised such a small club as Gretna managed to get to the Final when Rangers and Celtic couldn't make it. "It is a credit to Brooks Mileson, who has done an amazing job at Gretna, as have their players and coaches, and it is also great for Scottish football. "I have huge respect for Mr Mileson and I look forward to seeing him at Hampden. "Gretna will give us a real game. Hearts and Gretna have undergone big transformations and the two clubs are new to this stage of the Cup, certainly in recent years. "Neither of us has an advantage as we go into this battle and we must perform to our very best on the pitch if we are to win. "I hope all our fans have a wonderful day out at Hampden and that we can do them proud by bringing the trophy back to Edinburgh. "Hearts' task is clear - to bring the Scottish Cup back to Scotland's capital city." |
