VALDAS: JAMBOS WILL WIN IT FOR ELVISBy Colin Duncan VALDAS IVANAUSKAS believes a Scottish Cup victory over Gretna today would be the perfect tribute to Hearts' long-serving skipper Steven Pressley. The Lithuanian coach, who has refused to rule out a dramatic recall for his central defensive partner Andy Webster, stressed the importance of Pressley's role in the club's revival this season. And as he geared up for the end-of-season showdown with the Second Division champions at Hampden, Ivanauskas admits nobody deserves to hold the trophy aloft more than his inspirational captain. Hearts fans will also honour Pressley, who signed for the club just weeks after their last Scottish Cup success against Rangers in 1998, by turning up at the National Stadium wearing Elvis costumes. Ivanauskas said: "Elvis is a big player for this club and the supporters like him. "We'll always be grateful to Elvis and it would be nice to win it for him." Pressley admitted he joined Hearts from Dundee United because he wanted to win silverware, but eight years on he is still searching for a first winner's medal. Ivanauskas said: "Elvis won the Cup with Rangers but was only on the park as a sub for two minutes. This is a great chance for him." Pressley was expected to partner Ibrahim Tall in defence but Webster, who has been frozen out in recent weeks after snubbing a new deal, has been brought back in from the cold. |
