OLD FIRM LEND THEIR BACKING TO GRETNACUP FINAL COUNTDOWN: 3 DAYS TO GO + CUP FINAL COUNTDOWN: 3 DAYS By Gary Ralston BROOKS MILESON has revealed the Old Firm have joined forces to support Gretna in the Scottish Cup Final. The Gretna owner admitted few of his Scottish Football League rivals have sent messages of encouragement before the game against Hearts. But Celtic and Rangers have nailed their colours to the mast of the Second Division champions. Mileson said: "We've had a lot of messages of support, especially from SPL clubs, but not too many I'm aware of from SFL clubs. "Celtic have been sending us messages right through the rounds - and Rangers too." Mileson paraded the Scottish Cup at Raydale Park yesterday and admits his players don't have a clue what bonus they'll earn if they win on Saturday. He said: "A decision will be made at the last minute and it will be whatever I feel like at the time. "They picked up a substantial bonus for getting to this game based on the income from the semi-final. The lads know I'll look after them - I always have done." Mileson admits the windfall from the cup run will help running costs at a club he hopes to see in the SPL in three years. Gretna have a new stadium to build and Mileson plans to make them one of the best run community clubs in the country. He said: "It's great to see money come in from sources other than me. It means there's more to p*ss against the wall." Taken from the Daily Record |
