McGLYNN FIRED UP FOR HEARTS TEST

Hearts interim manager John McGlynn heralded the visit of Dundee United to Tynecastle in the Bank of Scotland Premier League as the "biggest game of my life."

The Jambos first-team coach has been in charge since George Burley was sacked before the match against Dunfermline a fortnight ago.

McGlynn guided Hearts to wins over the Pars and Kilmarnock, but the Edinburgh club lost their first league game of the season to rivals Hibernian on Saturday.

McGlynn is likely to be leading the Gorgie side for the last time against the Taysiders and is desperate to make amends for the derby defeat at Easter Road.

He said: "Without being dramatic, this is the biggest game of my life.

"It's nothing to do with me wanting the job permanently. That defeat last week was sore and I would have hated to have gone out after losing to Hibs.

"That would have left me with a sour taste, probably for the rest of my life. If possible, I want to hand over to the new manager after a win so it's a massive game.

"When you're up there people want to knock you down. We had a knock last week and people are laughing at us and saying 'this is what we told you was going to happen'.

"So it's about how we respond to it and hopefully we will respond in the right way.

"I watched Dundee United last week (against Celtic) and they had a good win against Falkirk the week before so it won't be easy, They will make it difficult for us.

"But it's about getting the job done and we will then have a gap of two weeks until the Aberdeen game.

"Hopefully things will click with the new manager. He will come in and the club will go from strength to strength."

McGlynn revealed that new chairman and acting chief executive Roman Romanov, who took over from George Foulkes and Phil Anderton respectively after the two men left the Edinburgh club under acrimonious circumstances on Monday, has had an informal chat with some of the players and staff at Tynecastle.

However, the caretaker boss insists his players do not need a pep talk.

He said: "There was no formal meeting but Roman arrived at lunchtime and had a casual chat with some individuals, myself included.

"He introduced himself but there was no big speech and there was no message.

"We don't need a message. All we need to do is get on with the job.

"I know what to do, the players know what to do and we're quite happy to be left alone to do it."
