NEW Hearts arrival Deividas Cesnauskis watched the outstanding display of Saulius Mikoliunas against Kilmarnock - and vowed to be another big a hit at Tynecastle.

The Lithuanian internationalist flew into Edinburgh on Friday and watched from the main stand 24 hours later as John Robertson’s side closed the gap on third-placed Hibs to just two points with an impressive 3-0 triumph over Jim Jefferies’ outfit.

Mikoliunas, who has signed until the summer from FBK Kaunas, was the star of the show with his first goal for the club setting the Jambos on the road to victory in Gorgie.

Cesnauskis, who has had Champions League experience with Lokomotiv Moscow, has arrived at Hearts with a considerable reputation. And the 23-year-old is looking forward to showcasing his talents in the first team.

"I am delighted to finally get to Edinburgh," he said. "I am looking forward to working with John Robertson and the rest of the coaching staff with a view to impressing them.

"If I can do that, then hopefully I can get into the first team as soon as possible. I have spoken to Saulius about his time here and he seems to be really enjoying it. I have heard how well he has done at Hearts and I will be looking for similar success. I haven’t changed clubs because of money but to gain experience of a new country and a new league and I am confident this move to Hearts will benefit my career."

Robertson was delighted with the contribution of Mikoliunas against Killie and believes the youngster can go from strength to strength. "Saul is just a young lad but he has already shown he likes the way we play and he likes the atmosphere at Tynecastle," said the Hearts boss.

"The fans have already taken him to their hearts and there is a very bright future ahead for the lad. We are really looking forward to having Cesnauskis here as he is actually keeping Mikoliunas out of the national team so that is the quality of the guys we’re bringing in."

Mikoliunas will keep his place for Wednesday’s Tennent’s Scottish Cup fourth-round replay against Killie at Rugby Park, where Robertson is expecting a far sterner test than was forthcoming at the weekend.

"I am sure Jim (Jefferies) was disappointed with his players on Saturday," said Robertson.

"They will be up for the replay on Wednesday. That wasn’t the normal Kilmarnock we saw at Tynecastle at the weekend. They are far better than that."
