MILLER WARNING FOR RIVALSHearts striker Lee Miller has warned the rest of the Bank of Scotland Premier League that the best is still to come. Miller has been a huge hit at the Tynecastle club since arriving on loan from Bristol City in January and the former Falkirk star has already admitted he would love to make his move permanent. His stunning strike in Saturday's 3-0 win over Kilmarnock brought his tally to four goals in seven starts. But Miller believes he has not even reached his peak at Hearts yet. He said: "I think there is still a lot to come to be fair. I still feel my fitness could be a bit better but that will come the more games that I play." Miller has managed to carve out a successful partnership with Dennis Wyness up front - a player who struggled to make the first team under previous boss Craig Levein. Head coach John Robertson has warned recent signings Mark Burchill and Hjalmar Thorarinsson are waiting in the wings for their chance if the goals suddenly dry up but Miller insists he thrives on the competition. He added: "At any club you need competition and you need the strikers to be scoring - that's what keeps you on your toes. "Dennis scored last weekend and then I scored this weekend and he was unlucky hitting the crossbar so we are creating the chances. "I could have scored a hat-trick in the first half so there were missed chances but the important thing is that we're getting into the positions." Hearts were left fuming last week when Kilmarnock grabbed a late equaliser to force a Tennent's Scottish Cup fourth round replay, which will take place on Wednesday night. But there was little chance of another late sucker-punch on Saturday when Saulius Mikoliunas, an own-goal from James Fowler and Miller's strike sealed the win. Miller now believes there is no reason why Hearts cannot finish the job off properly when they meet Killie for the third game on the trot in midweek. He said: "We're going down there with nothing to lose and, if we play the way we did on Saturday, then we have got every chance." Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies told his players he expects a much better display on Wednesday night. He said: "The only good thing is that it will be a different Kilmarnock on Wednesday - I can promise Hearts that." Taken from sportinglife.com |
