ROBBO REJECTS RANGERS HOME WINHearts head coach John Robertson is convinced Edinburgh rivals Hibernian can cause a Bank of Scotland Premier League upset at Rangers. The Jambos play host to Kilmarnock for the second successive week after the Tennent's Scottish Cup draw last weekend - and ahead of the replay at Rugby Park on Wednesday. But the Tynecastle side will also have one eye on the result at Ibrox where defeat for Tony Mowbray's team could see Hearts cut the deficit to two points in the race for a UEFA Cup spot. However, the Hearts boss warns that any talk of an automatic three points for Rangers against Hibernian is premature. Robertson said: "I think people are doing Hibs a massive disservice by saying it is an opportunity for us because they are going to Ibrox and you expect them to lose. "The way Hibs are playing, they are more than capable of going to Rangers and winning. "Hibs should get the credit they deserve. They are the form team in the SPL and who is to say they cannot win at Ibrox? "We have got to look after ourselves and hope Hibs slip up, but, just because they are playing Rangers, does not mean to say they are going to lose the game." Robertson has warned his players they must focus solely on the game against Killie. He added: "You just look after your own side. "All games against Kilmarnock have been notoriously ight and we just hope we can take our chances and get that wee bit of luck on the day that wins games." But Robertson is also hoping his team can earn a psychological advantage ahead of the Scottish Cup replay at Rugby Park next week. Hearts were holding a 2-1 half-time lead following goals by Dennis Wyness and Lee Miller before a late Steven Naismith sent the tie to a replay. But the Tynecastle boss believes Killie goalkeeper Alan Combe proved to be the real match-saver for the Ayrshire side. Robertson added: "What I'm looking for is the same as we produced in the first half last week, where we created bundles of chances. "And, but for some tremendous goalkeeping from Alan Combe, we could have been out of sight. He performed particularly well last week. "But, if we can keep up the standard of attacking play we showed in the first half and finish off our chances, then we will have an opportunity to take three points." Taken from sportinglife.com |
