Burns leaves Blue Brazil

Burns had problems with getting time off from his other job
Cowdenbeath winger John Paul Burns has given up football at the age of 26 after problems with time off work.

And the Third Division club have also lost versatile Chris Gray, who was granted a transfer to junior side Tranent due to travel problems.

Blue Brazil manager Keith Wright told his club's website: "We have tried to persuade John Paul to reconsider, but his mind seems to be made up.

"Personally, I think he has made a rash decision at such an early age."

Burns, who started his senior career with Hearts, started a second spell at Central Park in the summer after helping Glenrothes to the Scottish Junior Cup semi-finals last season.
But he has appeared in only three games because of injury.

"I know he had been having some difficulties in getting off work for the longer away fixtures," explained Wright.

"John Paul also insists he won't be returning to the junior ranks either, saying his career is over.

"That's a great pity as he was one of our more experienced players. However, there appears to be nothing else we can do about it."

Left-sided Gray had experiencing difficulties in attending Cowden's twice-weekly training sessions at Beath Centre.

Gray was signed from Ross County in the summer but has now had his request granted to be transferred to his hometown club.
