Gordon cap boostHEARTS star Craig Gordon completed a memorable week today when he was included in Berti Vogts’ squad for next week’s friendly against Hungary at Hampden Park, writes PAUL KIDDIE. The 21-year-old signed a new three-year deal with the Jambos on Tuesday and was celebrating again today with the news he has kept his place in the squad after winning his first cap against Trinidad and Tobago at the end of May. Gordon, joined in the squad by Gorgie team-mates Steven Pressley and Andy Webster, has been tipped to start against the Hungarians in Glasgow on Wednesday night but he could face competition from Celtic’s David Marshall, who earns his first senior call-up. Vogts retained Livingston’s David McNamee in his 24-man squad but there was no place for Hearts defender Jamie McAllister. Scotland Under-21 coach Rainer Bonhof, meanwhile, has handed Hibs’ Steven Whittaker his first call-up to the under-21 side. He joins Easter Road team-mates Scott Brown and Derek Riordan in the squad to face Hungary the previous evening. Scotland squad: Gallacher (Norwich), Gordon (Hearts), Marshall (Celtic), Shearer (Coventry), G Caldwell (Hibernian), S Caldwell (Sunderland), Dailly (West Ham), McNamara (Celtic), McNamee (Livingston), Pressley (Hearts), Webster (Hearts), Cameron (Wolves), Ferguson (Blackburn), Fletcher (Man Utd), Holt (Norwich), Hughes (Portsmouth), Naysmith (Everton), Quashie (Portsmouth), Crawford (Plymouth), Dickov (Blackburn), Gray (Sheff Utd), Kyle (Sunderland), McFadden (Everton), Miller (Wolves).
