Hearts close to clinching richest-ever sponsors’ dealPAUL KIDDIE and GORDON SCOTT HEARTS today confirmed they were close to tying up a bumper new sponsorship deal. But reports of a partnership with sportswear giants Reebok and retailers Allsports were described as "speculation" by club chiefs. As exclusively revealed by the Evening News last month, the Tynecastle outfit’s ten-year agreement with shirt sponsors Strongbow will end in May. Chief executive Chris Robinson has had high-level discussions with a number of potential backers, although nothing has as yet been finalised. However, it was claimed today that a deal with Allsports and Reebok, who would replace Italian company Errea as shirt manufacturers, would result in the richest sponsorship package in the 128-year history of the club. "We have been linked with a variety of names as to who will be succeeding Strongbow as our shirt sponsor, and Allsports is just the latest one," said spokesman Douglas Dalgleish.
