Question Answer

Player Nominated

Craig Levein

Nominated By

David Preston

Where Do You Live

Dullatur/Cumbernauld

Why nominated

The guy was class, as simple as that! He had Great Pace, Strength, Intelligence and could play a bit as well. IMHO, the complete defender.

I just wish he was still playing. I would say the best Hearts player I have seen.

Memorable Matches

Remember 1984 at Easter Road, we were losing 1-0 and it was deep into the 2nd half. This was when CL played in midfield. Sandy Jardine plays a long hopeful ball forward and there is Craig sprinting towards the penalty area, he sticks out a telescopic leg and gets a toe to the ball and diverts it past the onrushing Alan Rough 1-1.

We went onto win the game in the last minute when Derek O'Connor scored the winner. Superb. Craig had a good record against the Vermin and scored a few memorable goals.

I remember his debut at Ibrox, we lost 3-0 and a guy we were with refused to go back as in his opinion, Hearts should not be signing crap from Cowdenbeath and Craig would never be a footballer.

Also Craig was immense along side Big HeeHaw in Scotland vs. Sweden in the 1990 World Cup, had Thomas Brolin in his pocket.

Other Comments

Again, another Hearts player ignored by Scotland Managers, everytime he played for Scotland he did well. A career sadly cut short by injury, although he did come back twice which says a lot about him.

As I said the Complete Defender!
