ICT to donate cash to Hearts

30.08.2013

Fans are reminded that Inverness Caledonian Thistle have joined fellow-SPFL clubs St Johnstone and Partick Thistle in offering to donate cash back to Hearts from tomorrow's Premiership clash against the Jambos.

Gary Locke takes his team north for the 3pm kick-off and the Highlanders will give the 1874 Fighting Fund £5 for every full-paying fan above the average away crowd of 650 for the fixture.

The gesture has been warmly received by Heart of Midlothian FC, with managing director David Southern saying: "We are very grateful to everyone who is helping Hearts at this time. The gesture from Inverness is another great example of this.

"We are very appreciative of this opportunity and while we know that our own supporters have had to dip into their pockets time and time again, with this being our last game for a fortnight we expect that the £5 cash back offer to Hearts from Inverness is likely to encourage a few more to travel up to Inverness for what is often viewed as one of the best away-days for the fans."

Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron added: "Having been very impressed with the cash back offer to Hearts from St Johnstone, we discussed doing something similar with David Southern, Hearts' MD, and are delighted to assist them in any way we can.

"When ever a club gets in to financial difficulty it is often the fans who are asked to 'save the day'. Though this is just a small gesture from ICT, I am sure that every little helps in difficult times.

"The way the Hearts fans have rallied round to every request from the club to continually dip in to their pockets has been magnificent and it is not just the Hearts fans, similar things have been done at the likes of Rangers and Dunfermline, whose fans also stepped in to assist their clubs in their hour of need.

"As David said this is viewed as one of the best 'away days' for the fans and all fans who travel will do so in the knowledge they are assisting their own club both on and off the field and will be made most welcome in Inverness."

There will be cash gates at the game while tickets will also be on sale at the Caledonian Stadium prior to kick-off, with fans urged to turn up early to help ease potential congestion.
