Gary grabs victory

Young gun Gary Oliver was the hero for Hearts U20s as they kicked off their new season with a dramatic victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

The striker smashed a late double in the closing minutes of last night's game to clinch the points for Darren Murray's side after the visitors had fallen behind to a penalty from Chris Duggan.

The triumph spoke volumes for the youngsters' spirit and Darren declared himself delighted with the outcome.

"I thought the lads were fantastic," he said. "A lot of them were playing at this level for the first time and they did brilliantly.

"We lost a poor goal in the first half but changed things a bit after the break, passed the ball extremely well and scored two excellent goals from Gary Oliver to win the game."
