Callum bids for goals galore

Callum Paterson is aiming high this season as he bids to fire Hearts to safety.

The young striker bagged four goals last term before his season was cruelly cut short by injury. Now the fit again frontman wants to double last season efforts, and reckons learning from the master can only help his cause.

Speaking to the media at Riccarton earlier today, Callum said: "The first target is to stay up. That would be a great target. Then for myself, to try and get double the goals I got last year. If not, more than that.

"Training with Robbo has been a great help. He's been showing me all the good techniques. He was one of the best strikers that's ever played in Scottish football so to have him come onboard has been unbelievable.

"He's been teaching me to relax in front of goal and make runs down the channels. As a young guy you tend to kick the ball anywhere and hope it goes in! But he's taught me a wee technique so hopefully I'll take it into this season.

"Last season I had a lot of pressure on me to be fair, so I'm kind of used to it. I'd rather have pressure on me than play without pressure as it spurs me on a wee bit.

"I'm not really fussed where I play to be honest. I'd rather play up front but if they want me to play at left back then I'll play there. I'm not really bothered at all. I wasn't even a striker when I came here. I played right back and right midfield but I'm loving it now."
