Hearts gamble and KO Nottingham Forest bid for Jason Holt15 Jul 2013 08:24 Gordon Parks THE English side are not happy with administrators, BDO, who knocked back their bid despite making players and office staff redundant. HEARTS were accused of playing financial poker with the club’s future last night by refusing to sell Jason Holt to Nottingham Forest. The capital side knocked back an improved bid of £100,000 last week from the Championship side for the midfielder despite their ongoing cash crisis. Record Sport understands Forest were prepared to pay immediately as a gesture to help ease the funding issues at the administration-hit club but are now ready to take their money elsewhere. Billy Davies’s side are upset at what they regard as mixed messages from the Hearts administrators, BDO, who have already made Tynecastle players and office staff redundant while urging fans for funds to aid the club’s survival battle. Jambos fundraiser Craig Wilson, who helped raise £30,000 at a recent Hearts Fans Rally, reckons the administrators have a morale obligation to accept the money for Holt. He said: “It shouldn’t be forgotten that good people have lost their jobs at Hearts who now don’t appear to be acting like a club in administration. “The fans are playing their part in raising money and buying season tickets but it doesn’t look normal practice for an administrator to refuse a fee of this size. “It leaves the fans asking questions about the morality in having staff losing jobs, players taking wage cuts and fans being asked to give more while £100,000 is turned down.” Taken from the Daily Record |
