Shareholders' fantastic gesture

Hearts continues to receive phenomenal support with the news that the Heart of Midlothian Shareholders Association has donated over £2000 to the club and Big Hearts, in the form of season tickets and coaching courses.

The Shareholders Association has purchased six season tickets, two adults and four children, which will be distributed over the 2013/14 season to six primary schools in the local area, much to the delight of the schools who will pass the briefs on to deserving cases.

In addition, the Shareholders Association has funded football sessions, which started this week and are run by Big Hearts, for local children in the west of Edinburgh.

Bill Alves, Chairman of the Shareholders Association, said: "We feel that by supporting the local community we are supporting the club's future. This is such an understated part of the club and as shareholders we should be supporting this great trust and the great work it does."

Michael Spence, committee member for the Shareholders Association and liaison with Big Hearts, said: "It is so important that we, as shareholders, are seen supporting young people in the local area. We hope this will have a knock on effect so that they will become either potential players or lifelong supporters of the club."
