Charlie Irons out a problem!

Hearts will kick-off their series of pre-season friendlies on Tuesday, July 9th when they take on Dinamo Bucharest in England.

The Romanians were looking for opposition during a stay south of the Border and manager Gary Locke was only too happy to accept the invitation having seen a planned meeting with East Fife fall through.

Leigh Sports Village Stadium, on the outskirts of Manchester, will play host to the fixture, which has a 7.30pm kick-off.

Key to the game going ahead, however, was the generosity of the club's official team coach provider Charlie Irons.

With Hearts currently in administration, funding the trip south was going to prove extremely difficult, until Charlie stepped in to offer his coach for free.

"We have been trying all summer to get games organised but a lot of clubs had their plans in place," said Gary.

"We had a game against East Fife organised but were let down at the last minute and at that late stage it can be difficult to get something sorted. But thankfully this opportunity came along and it will be a good test for the boys.

"It was a fantastic gesture from Charlie Irons. I said at Sunday's fans rally that I have been humbled by the support from everyone, especially the fans. Charlie being a fan himself has made this game happen by allowing us to have the bus free of charge.

"He has been a huge supporter of the club over the years and I like to personally thank him for making the game on Tuesday possible."

Admission for the game is £15 for adults, £10 concessions, with visiting fans being accommodated in the main stand.

Following Tuesday's match, Hearts take on Dunfermline at East End Park on Saturday, July 13 (2pm) before a trip to Stark's Park on Wednesday, July 17 (7.30pm) to face Raith Rovers while the Ballymena tournament (July 25-27) completes the Gorgie side's preparations for the new season.
