Danny's Big gesture

25.06.2013

BIG-HEARTED Danny Wilson today proved he's no regrets after the Liverpool defender bought two adult and two children's season tickets to be donated to Hearts' official charity, Big Hearts.

Of course, Danny spent the second half of last season on loan at Tynecastle from Anfield, and originally agreed a move to Gorgie on a permanent basis.

Hearts' decent into administration means the 21-year-old won't be able to complete that move, with a transfer embargo preventing any deals from being ratified.

Nobody would have objected to the player feeling let down at the collapse of his move but Danny has shown real class by today supporting the club and Big Hearts at the same time.

Allan Preston, the former Hearts player whose employers represent Danny, said: "Danny had a great time on loan last season and was desperate to stay at Tynecastle. That's not to be, but he's no hard feelings towards the club and the supporters.

"He doesn't want to make a big deal of this, but he, like so many thousands of supporters, wanted to play his part."

Big Hearts chief executive Alan White added: "Danny's gesture is absolutely sensational and we cannot thank him enough for his kindness.

"He's helping the club, and in the process helping Big Hearts to allow us to ensure those in the communities in which we operate, who might not have been able to see games, will be able to do so."

Several former players are now lining up to back the Big Hearts Big Ticket campaign, with more names set to be revealed in the days ahead.
