Livingston and Raith at loggerheads over Elliot

Published on 05/06/2013 12:00

LIVINGSTON FC and Raith Rovers are in dispute over the signing of former Hearts striker Calum Elliot.

Livi announced on April 29 they that they had signed the player for the 2013/14 season on a pre-contract agreement, with the player due to arrive following the expiration of his short-term deal at Alloa.

Elliot had joined the Wasps in February on a short-term contract after leaving Lithuanian club Zalgiris Vilnius.

However, Rovers yesterday issued an official statement saying: "We are delighted to announce the capture of former Scotland Under-20 and 21 international striker Calum Elliot on a 12-month contract following his release at the end of the season by Alloa Athletic. Everyone at Stark's Park welcomes Calum."

Elliot, 26, scored 14 goals for Alloa helping Paul Hartley's team to win promotion from the Second Division.

Livingston responded by saying: "We entered into a pre-contract agreement with Calum in April and, in view of this, will seek clarification from both the player and Raith Rovers as a matter of urgency."

Elliot spent eight years at Hearts but struggled to establish himself in the first team. He was loaned to Dundee, Motherwell and Livingston, where he scored 11 goals in 15 appearances in the 2008/09 First Division campaign.

Livi, meanwhile, have agreed a new two-year contract with midfielder Burton O'Brien.
