Locke in plea for pal Weir

The former Scotland skipper has been offered the job after Edgaras Jankauskas quit the role earlier this week.

Weir and Locke are close pals from their playing days together at Tynecastle.

And the Jambos gaffer hopes Weir will join him in the dugout from next season.Weir is currently reserve boss at Everton and in the running to take over from Davie Moyes in the Goodison hotseat.

He’s been interviewed for the position and is understood to be in the frame. But Locke hopes the ex-Rangers star will join him at Hearts if he misses out.

Motherwell also fancy Weir if boss Stuart McCall quits Fir Park for Sheffield United.
