Mehdi leaves Hearts

Hearts continue to make preparations for the new season by announcing that Mehdi Taouil will leave the club in the summer.

The midfielder will depart Tynecastle upon the expiration of his contract at the end of May.

Mehdi, signed by former manager Jim Jefferies, joined the club in the summer of 2011 from Kilmarnock, following a four-year spell at Rugby Park.

The little Moroccan made 68 appearances in a maroon shirt, including a run out as a substitute in the 5-1 William Hill Scottish Cup Final triumph over Hibs.

Also leaving Hearts at the end of his contract after two years in Gorgie will be left-back Danny Grainger and the pair join Darren Barr, Gordon Smith, Denis Prychynenko and George Scott in looking to pursue their careers elsewhere for season 2013-14.
