Modest Macdonald

19.05.2013

Jamie Macdonald was pleased with his own display in today's 1-1 draw at Pittodrie, but insists getting a good result was the main thing.

The Tynecastle number one pulled off a string of impressive saves throughout the match to keep Aberdeen at bay, before eventually being undone by a cruel Jamie Hamill own-goal.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jamie said: "It was just one of those days where saves were falling nicely…some nice 'camera saves' for myself! There are not many days you get it like that so it was enjoyable.

"It's just a shame for Jamie Hamill to slip and score the own-goal. It would've been nice to have kept a clean sheet and get a win as that's the most important thing. But from a personal point of view, you've got to happy with that."

With some pointing to off-field matters as a potential distraction for players, Jamie was quick to point out that its business as usual in the dressing room.

"Nobody really knows what's going on at the moment so it's difficult, but we're all professionals," he said. "There's nothing we can do to influence anything so we just carry on as normal and try and get on with our jobs."

Though many will be glad to see the back of season 2012/13, Jamie insisted that there have been some memorable moments for the club.

"There have obviously been a lot of issues off the park at the club over the past year and it's been difficult at times," he revealed. "But from a personal point of view that's my first full season playing here so regardless, I've enjoyed playing my first full season.

"We got to another cup final and we were disappointed not to win it. There have been some great memories like going down to Anfield and drawing 1-1. It's been an up and down season. From the football side of it there's been good and bad."
