The time has come for Final focus

Saints boss Danny Lennon is relieved that his side can now fully concentrate on this Sunday’s Scottish Communities League Cup Final with Hearts.

Lennon admitted that the game with the Capital club has been looming large in the Saints dressing room for quite some time and has been a distraction during their league campaign.

But he’s happy that it’s now only days away.

Speaking after Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Dundee United, Lennon said: “I would like to say that the final has not been a distraction in recent weeks but it has.

“And I think if the players spoke about it honestly enough, then they would tell you that too.

“It’s been a demanding couple of weeks for us and it’s hard to keep the focus off the players, in terms of the build-up, it’s difficult.

“But now we have the league games out of the way and we can totally focus this week on the final.

“I’m delighted that we can go into a working week concentrating on preparing for the cup final – with no more games in between it.”
