Peter Houston interested in Hearts manager postPublished on Thursday 7 March 2013 10:39 PETER Houston is mulling over the prospect of becoming Hearts’ new manager despite admitting there are “loads of questions” to be asked. • Peter Houston puts himself in frame for Hearts job • “Loads of questions” to be asked, former Dundee United manager admits Houston is thought to be among a shortlist of candidates - which includes Derek McInnes and John Robertson - being considered by the Tynecastle hierarchy after John McGlynn’s departure last week. The former Dundee United manager, who left Tannadice in January by mutual consent, is keen to speak to the club that he was formerly assistant manager of under another former United boss, Craig Levein, in 2004. However, Houston has admitted that his potential application would be approached with caution as Hearts’ dire financial situation continues to hang over the club. “You look at the situation, the stadium, the training ground and a good squad of players,” Houston said. “A lot of the high earners are going out in the summer and they are trying to bring it back to a club that is run properly on a proper budget. That’s why I’d be interested in listening to what they have to say. “There are loads of questions I’d have to ask. Houston added: “THere are plenty of players out there that would dive at the chance to come to this football club. “If the budget was stilla s good as anything else in the SPL, outside Celtic, you could get players to go there and do a decent job.” Bristol City manager McInnes and Hearts all-time leading scorer Robertson are also thought to be on Hearts’ shortlist.
