Former Scotland international joins Barnet Football Club

Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Craig Beattie subject to international clearance.

The forward has only been available for a short period of time after leaving St Johnstone on the 24 January 2013.

Beattie started his career with Rangers, the team he supported, but was released by manager Dick Advocaat and joined rivals Celtic.

He broke into the first-team at the age of 19 after impressing in an Under-19s pre-season friendly by scoring all six goals in a 6-0 win over Derry City.

He went on to make 50 appearances for the club scoring 13 goals before joining West Bromwich Albion on 3 July 2007.

He spent two seasons at the club but made just 31 appearances due to loan spells with Preston North End, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United.

The 29-year-old spent the following three-years playing for Swansea City and Watford (loan) but was released by the Welsh club on 22 January 2012.

Beattie has spent the past year playing north of the border for Heart of Midlothian and St. Johnstone.

He has also featured for the Scottish national team making his international debut as a 76th minute substitute in a draw against Italy on 3 September 2005.

He scored his first goal in a 2–1 victory against Georgia and made seven appearances for his country between 2005 and 2007.
