MICHAEL NGOO had no idea what half his Hearts team-mates were called as he fired his new side to the League Cup final.

But the new boy hopes everyone will remember HIS name by the time his loan spell is up.

The 21-year-old took part in just one training session before being thrown in against Inverness Caley.

But Ngoo introduced himself in the best way possible after volleying in a second-half equaliser at Easter Road then scoring in the penalty shootout.

And the on-loan Liverpool striker, set to make his SPL bow against Dundee tonight, said: “Right now I know most of the boys’ names — but it was hard on Saturday! I didn’t even know I was going to play to be honest.

“On Friday the manager was handing out bibs, and he read out the team and I was in.

“But I think we got on pretty well. The runs I was making obviously helped — and I’m not shy in asking for the ball!

“So obviously I enjoyed Saturday and since then I’ve been getting to know the boys more and more.

“It’s amazing for me to come up here. I’ve been here four or five days and I’m in a final already — that’s not bad!

“Now my confidence is high I want the games to come thick and fast, because the experience of Saturday was incredible.”

Ngoo, a graduate of West Ham’s famous youth academy, had the option to go on loan to a Championship side this month.

But he revealed he’d already admired Hearts when he watched them narrowly lose to Liverpool in the Europa League back in August.

And the striker also admitted fellow new boy Danny Wilson was key.

He said: “There were other options down south this month but speaking to Danny helped me make my mind up.

“More than that, though, having watched the boys at Anfield in the Europa League, I saw how they worked for one another.”

Jambos manager John McGlynn confirmed yesterday that the club will not be offering a new contract to injured Danny Grainger.

McGlynn said: “Danny is one of a few players out of contract at the end of the season and wanted to know what was happening.

“At this moment in time we are not in a position to answer that.

“So our director of football John Murray has said to Danny if he wants to find another club he’s well within his rights to do it.”

McGlynn also insisted Hearts had done nothing wrong in selecting Wilson despite Caley protests.

The then Rangers defender was sent off in the 2010 League Cup final but served his one-match suspension at Liverpool.

McGlynn said: “We asked for clarification from the SFA and they told us Danny was not suspended and was eligible.”
