Sympathetic Inverness CT boss Terry Butcher out to inflict more damage on John McGlynn26 Jan 2013 00:01 By Michael Gannon BUTCHER can sympathise with administration-stricken John McGlynn at Hearts, but he hopes to inflict more pain on his opponent in their League Cup semi-final today. TERRY BUTCHER has sympathy for John McGlynn but aims to inflict more pain on the Hearts boss today. The Caley Jags boss knows what it’s like working in a financial strait jacket as he was in charge at Motherwell during their spell of administration. Hearts are struggling for survival after Vladimir Romanov unplugged the life support. And Butcher said: “I’ve worked at a club in administration, in a financial nightmare. “The club here is debt free and very healthy but it’s still hand-to-mouth. “It’s the same with Ally McCoist at Rangers. “Now John McGlynn’s in a similar situation at Hearts. If anyone can help the club then it’s him. He’s a hard worker and the players respect him. “It’s difficult because as a player and a manager the off-field stuff is always at the back of your mind. “John’s a lovely guy who has a funny laugh. I just hope he’s not laughing at Easter Road.” Butcher led Motherwell to a League Cup Final with a semi-final win over Hearts in Leith in 2005. He added: “When we knew we were at Easter Road I was very happy. I hope history repeats itself.” Taken from the Daily Record |
