Hibs chief Rod Petrie hits out at Hearts fansPublished on Thursday 3 January 2013 12:00 HIBS chairman Rod Petrie has taken a cheeky swipe at Hearts fans ahead of today’s big derby encounter. Fed up with 5-1 finger jibes the Easter Road outfit and fans have had to endure since their drubbing in last May’s Scottish Cup final, Petrie has responded by saying Hibs fans don’t have enough fingers to count their victories over the Tynecastle outfit. Petrie and team boss Pat Fenlon have themselves been victims of wind-ups by Hearts fans. In his New Year message on the club’s website Petrie writes “As we leave 2012 and all its highs and lows behind, I’m sure we can expect a few high five one greetings at Tynecastle – the problem is that Hibernian supporters just do not have enough fingers for a 7-0 or a 6-2 reply!” Meanwhile fans have been urged to arrive early for the sell-out match and police have warned that any alcohol found will be confiscated. “Unacceptable behaviour extends to sectarian, racist or homophobic chanting and we will pursue those responsible,” they have warned.
