HEARTS have paid tribute to their former club doctor, Dewar Melvin, who passed away at the weekend.

Doctor Melvin, who was affectionately known at Tynecastle as “Doc”, retired in February after completing 32 years of service with the club.

He joined Hearts in 1980 having previously served as a surgeon with Lothian and Borders police and as a medical officer for Murrayfield Racers ice hockey team.

Hearts manager John McGlynn said: “He was a great servant to Hearts Football Club, a great doctor and a great professional. I would like to pass on our condolences to his wife and family. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.”
