Jambos in safe hands

Jamie Macdonald was a pleased man after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Fir Park against Motherwell after securing his sixth clean sheet of the season in just 14 SPL matches.

Hearts secured their first point at the home of the Steelmen since 2010 as both sides failed to break down each other's well-marshalled defences, with Jamie making some crucial saves to stop the prolific Michael Higdon.

Speaking after the match, a cheery Jamie suggested the result was the right one, with both sides enjoying their share of pressure throughout the match without ever really threatening to break the deadlock.

"I think it was a fair result. We edged the first half, they had the second. The defences were solid, the only way a goal was going to happen was through a mistake if anything".

The match will probably best be forgotten by the spectators who watched it, with the goal-shy Jambos firing another blank in front of the television cameras. Indeed, there have only been 11 goals in the 8 televised matches featuring the boys in maroon this season.

"The game was probably rotten because it was on TV!" laughed Jamie. "Listen, it's another clean sheet for me, so I'm happy. Unfortunately we didn't get the win but we had the chances to maybe nick it on another day".

Lastly, despite some suggestions that the attendance for the lunch-time kick-off was disappointing, Jamie moved to dismiss these claims and - like so many of his teammates - gave immense credit to the supporters of Heart of Midlothian who continue to dig deep to keep the club going.

"The fans have been brilliant. It's hard for them to travel to away games with the amount of money they've put into the club. We can't praise them enough, so we all understand if the away games aren't packed, but their support is always superb".
